Abstract

A Sprain refers to a torn or stretched  Ligament. The origin of this term  has been linked to a French word  “Espraindre” which means “to  push out” or “to press out”. Falling,  twisting or getting hit can cause  damage to the Ligaments which  are bands of tissue responsible for  connecting two bones and provide  stability to a joint. Sprain usually  presents in an individual with  symptoms such as pain, swelling,  bruising or discoloration and  difficulty moving the affected joint.
