Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic inflammatory disorder marked by extensive musculoskeletal discomfort, exhaustion, unrefreshing sleep, cognitive impairments, and various related physical symptoms that significantly impact the quality of life of individuals. Significant advancements have been achieved in comprehending FM in recent decades; yet, its pathogenesis is still only partially addressed. Contemporary data endorses a multifactorial framework that includes central sensitization, altered pain processing, nervous and immunomodulatory systems, genetic susceptibility, and environmental influences; yet, the specific contributions and interactions of these pathways remain inadequately explored.
