Abstract

In vitro efficacy of four chemical substance and five antibiotics were evaluated against Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum the causal agent of carrot soft rot disease. Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum was isolated from diseased carrot sample by serial dilution technique and different biochemical and pathogenicity test were performed to confirm the bacterial species. Bioagents viz., Pseudomonas fluorescens (UAS, Raichur), Pseudomonas fluorescens (Ap-40), Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquifaciense, Bacillus thuringenesis, Trichoderma asperillum (UAS, Raichur) and probiotics like, Lactobacillus sp. MYSVA- 20, Lactobacillus sp. MYSVA- 21 and Lactobacillus sp. MYSVA- 23 were tested for their potentiality to suppress the bacterium by streak plate method. Data were recorded at 96 hour after incubation and results showed that among the different bioagents Among the biocontrol agents P. fluorescens (BC lab) was found significantly superior over all other treatments in suppression of the pathogen with an inhibition zone of 12.66 mm. Followed by the next best effective biocontrol agent as B. subtilis (9.00) and P. fluorescens- AP05 (7.16 mm). Significantly least inhibition was recorded was observed by B. amyloliquifaciense (4.16 mm).
