Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Article types: Original research articles (up to 3,500 words), review articles (up to 5,000 words), case reports (up to 1,500 words), short communications and letters to the editor.

Submission: Submit online through this website in Microsoft Word format. Submit the title page (title, authors’ full names, affiliations, ORCID iDs, corresponding author’s e-mail) as a separate file from the anonymised manuscript, which must not contain author names or identifying details, for double-blind review.

Structure of a research article: Title; structured abstract (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion; up to 250 words); 3–6 keywords; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements; Conflict of Interest; Funding; Ethics approval (committee name and approval number) and consent; Author contributions; References. Case reports: Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, Conclusion.

Required statements (every article):

  • Conflict of Interest: declare any competing interest, or state “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
  • Funding: name the funder and grant number, or state “This research received no external funding.”
  • Ethics: institutional ethics committee approval (name, number) for human or autopsy research, and informed consent; written consent for publication of any identifiable image or case detail.

References: Vancouver style, numbered in the order cited, with DOIs where available.

Tables and figures: Numbered in order of citation, each with a title; figures at a minimum of 300 dpi.

Similarity: All manuscripts are checked with iThenticate before review; see the publisher’s plagiarism policy.

Use of AI: Generative AI tools may not be listed as authors. Any use of AI in writing or analysis must be described in the Methods or Acknowledgements; authors remain responsible for the content.

Charges: No submission fee. Article processing charge after acceptance: INR 5,000 (India) or USD 100 (outside India). Payment does not influence editorial decisions.

Copyright and licence: Accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons licence stated on the article.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
